Welcome back, FPL managers! The Gameweek 8 deadline is today, Saturday 24th October at 5:30pm - and there's a lot to get through. We've broken down the key transfers in, transfers out, differentials, and the all-important captain call so you can lock in your squad with confidence. Let's get into it.
🚨 Deadline Day News - What You Need to Know

Neto

Palmer
Saka, Semenyo, and Szoboszlai are all carrying injuries of varying severity - if you own any of them, get replacements sorted before the 5:30pm deadline today.
Gross and De Cuyper from Brighton face tricky fixtures in the next two gameweeks, including Liverpool at home in GW8. There are genuine questions about whether to bench that Brighton pair or start them.
A Bruno Fernandes rant from European action this week isn't ideal for his owners ahead of Man Utd's home clash with Bournemouth. Keep an eye on his fitness and mood heading into deadline.
Munoz at Liverpool is flagged as doubtful with a knee injury - rated at a 75% chance of playing. He scored 9 points in GW7, so monitor him right up to the deadline.
✅ Transfers IN - The Players to Target
1. Declan Rice (Arsenal) - £7.3m | 11.6% Owned
Rice is the standout transfer target this week. He grabbed an assist, a clean sheet, and three bonus points in Gameweek 7 for 9 points total. He's averaging 8.0 form and has racked up 4 assists already this season - elite underlying involvement for a midfielder at this price point.
Arsenal host Everton in Gameweek 8 - a very favourable matchup. Rice has been unlucky not to add goals to his tally, but the attacking contribution is there week after week. At under 12% ownership, he's massively undervalued.
Price: £7.3m
Ownership: 11.6%
GW7 Points: 9 (assist + clean sheet + 3 bonus)
Season assists: 4
Form: 8.0
GW8 Fixture: Arsenal vs Everton (H) - very favourable
Essential. Get him in before that deadline. His ownership will rise sharply after GW8.
2. Ezri Konsa (Arsenal) - £4.6m | 18.2% Owned
Konsa has been one of the revelations of the season. He bagged 9 points in Gameweek 7 with a clean sheet and three bonus points, and nearly 96,000 managers have already moved for him this gameweek. At £4.6m, he's averaging 4.2 points per game with two clean sheets on his record.
The GW8 fixture couldn't be much better - Arsenal host Everton at home. For a premium defensive asset at a bargain price, it's almost impossible to argue against him.
Price: £4.6m
Ownership: 18.2%
GW7 Points: 9 (clean sheet + 3 bonus)
Total Points: 25
GW8 Fixture: Arsenal vs Everton (H) - dream matchup
~96,000 transfers in this GW
If you're hunting for budget defenders with genuine upside, our bargain players tool is a great place to find options like Konsa that others are sleeping on.
Essential. One of the best budget picks in the game right now. Don't overthink it.
3. Yasin Ayari (Brighton) - £5.4m | 0.6% Owned
This is the differential transfer of the week. Ayari had a sensational Gameweek 7 - a goal, an assist, a clean sheet, and two bonus points for 13 points total. That's his best haul of the season, and he's been central to Brighton's attacking build-up from midfield. Brighton have five clean sheets this season, and Ayari's underlying numbers are too good to ignore.
The caveat: Brighton face Liverpool at home in GW8 - not the easiest fixture. If you already have Brighton coverage, you could wait a week. But if you don't, Ayari at £5.4m and 0.6% ownership is a genuine differential with real upside.
Price: £5.4m
Ownership: 0.6% (criminally low)
GW7 Points: 13 (goal + assist + clean sheet + 2 bonus)
Season: 2 goals, 1 assist
GW8 Fixture: Brighton vs Liverpool (H) - tricky
~20,000+ transfers in this GW
Good buy, but if you have Brighton coverage already, you can wait one week before pulling the trigger.
❌ Transfers OUT - Players to Consider Moving On
1. João Pedro (Chelsea) - £7.9m | 73.2% Owned
Over 73% of managers own João Pedro, but he only managed 2 points in Gameweek 7 despite Chelsea beating Everton. No goal, no assist - just a clean sheet point and nothing more. His season tally of 5 goals and 3 assists means he's not someone you want to dump permanently, but Chelsea face Spurs in GW8 - a tough London derby.
His price has risen four clicks already, so there's profit to take. His points per game is still 7.8, which remains elite, but the GW8 fixture makes him awkward to captain this week.
Price: £7.9m
Ownership: 73.2%
GW7 Points: 2
Season: 5 goals, 3 assists - still elite production
GW8 Fixture: Chelsea vs Spurs (H) - tough London derby
Price risen 4 clicks already
Hold, but bench him against Spurs if you have a better captaincy option. Too good to sell outright given his season output.
2. Dominic Solanke (Spurs) - £5.8m | 1.5% Owned
Solanke is averaging just 2.6 points per game and has scored just one goal all season. Even in GW7, when Spurs beat Coventry 3-1, he only managed an assist and 4 points. His price has already dropped two clicks and the underlying threat isn't convincing.
Price: £5.8m (dropped 2 clicks)
Ownership: 1.5%
GW7 Points: 4 (assist only)
Season: 1 goal
Form: 2.6 points per game
Sell. At £5.8m, you can do much better with Rice, Konsa, or others on that budget.
3. Gabriel (Arsenal) - £7.9m | 21.1% Owned
Gabriel kept a clean sheet against Nottingham Forest in GW7 for 8 points, but his form rating has dipped to 5.0. At £7.9m for a defender, that's a premium price that's hard to justify when cheaper options like Konsa are producing similar or better returns. Over 42,000 managers have already transferred him out this week.
Arsenal face Everton in GW8 which keeps him relevant for the short term, but if you need to free up funds for a premium midfielder or forward, Gabriel is the place to look.
Price: £7.9m
Ownership: 21.1%
GW7 Points: 8 (clean sheet)
Total Points: 35
Form rating: 5.0 (dipping)
~42,000+ transfers out this GW
Sell if you need the budget. Hold if you don't - Arsenal's fixture against Everton is still favourable.
🎯 Differentials - Three Picks Under 25% Ownership
Want to separate yourself from the pack in your mini-leagues? Here are three players flying under the radar heading into GW8. You can also browse more differentials using our dedicated tool.
1. Joe Gomez (Brighton) - £5.0m | 3.9% Owned
Gomez is the most underrated differential in the game right now. He scored a goal in GW7, kept a clean sheet, and racked up 8 points. He's accumulated 1 goal and 3 assists this season alongside Brighton's outstanding clean sheet record - five clean sheets in total. At £5.0m and under 4% ownership, this is genuine differential territory with real upside.
Price: £5.0m
Ownership: 3.9%
GW7 Points: 8 (goal + clean sheet)
Season: 1 goal, 3 assists
Brighton clean sheets: 5
GW8 Fixture: Brighton vs Liverpool (H) - tough, but Gomez's attacking returns make him viable regardless
2. Bryan Mbeumo (Man Utd) - £7.9m | ~21% Owned
Mbeumo is widely ignored as a captaincy option - and that's exactly why he's our differential captain pick this week (more on that below). He scored in GW7 and has combined for 5 goals and assists across 7 gameweeks. Man Utd host Bournemouth in GW8 - a favourable home fixture - and Mbeumo is United's primary attacking threat.
Price: £7.9m
Ownership: ~21%
GW7 Points: 8
Season: 4 goals, 1 assist
GW8 Fixture: Man Utd vs Bournemouth (H) - favourable
Captaincy upside: High
3. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds) - £6.1m | 23.8% Owned
Calvert-Lewin scored in GW7 for 9 points including three bonus points - his bonus point potential is a serious asset. He has 3 goals already this season and Leeds travel to Sunderland in GW8, a very winnable away fixture. At £6.1m with this level of bonus point involvement, he deserves a spot in far more squads.
Price: £6.1m
Ownership: 23.8%
GW7 Points: 9 (goal + 3 bonus)
Season: 3 goals, 1 assist
GW8 Fixture: Sunderland vs Leeds (A) - winnable away trip
Bonus point potential: Elite
🏆 Captain Pick - Gameweek 8
This is the big decision. Here are the two standout options heading into GW8:
Our Captain Pick: Bryan Mbeumo (Man Utd) Man Utd host Bournemouth - a favourable home fixture Mbeumo is United's primary attacking threat and in outstanding form 5 goal involvements across 7 gameweeks Bournemouth are vulnerable away from home At ~21% ownership, he's the differential captain option - a big week for him and you could pull away in your mini-leagues |
Alternative Captain: Declan Rice (Arsenal) Arsenal host Everton - a dream home fixture Rice's expected points for GW8 are mouthwatering - 8.0 form 4 assists this season with elite attacking involvement If you have both Mbeumo and Rice, it's genuinely close - flip a coin Safer, more predictable ceiling but massive floor too |
Our call: Go Mbeumo as the differential captain. The home fixture against Bournemouth is favourable, the form is there, and the ownership makes him the perfect option to gain ground on your rivals this week. Rice is the 'safer' call - but both are excellent.
💡 Brighton Assets - Don't Sleep On Them
Before you finalise your squad, make sure your Brighton coverage is sorted. The stats are hard to ignore:
Ayari: 13 points in GW7 (goal + assist + clean sheet + 2 bonus) - £5.4m
Gomez: 8 points in GW7 (goal + clean sheet) - £5.0m
Vuskovic: 11 points in GW7 (assist + clean sheet) - Brighton's defensive structure is the best value in the game
Brighton have 5 clean sheets this season - outstanding record
