Crystal Palace vs Man City finished 4-1 to City - an absolute statement performance. Cherki started and tore it up, Haaland was at it again, and the City machine looks well and truly in gear. This result shapes everything going into Gameweek 3, where City host Coventry City at home (fixture difficulty rating: 2). More on that below.

Also worth watching: Newcastle have a new big-money midfield signing in Nico Gonzalez - keep an eye on his FPL profile as that situation develops. Verdict: ESSENTIAL

Cherki has been nothing short of sensational. In his one appearance this season, he has scored 2 goals and registered 2 assists, racking up 22 total points - including 14 points in Gameweek 2 alone. He is seeing over 264,000 transfers in this week, and it is easy to see why.

His GW3 fixture is about as good as it gets - Man City at home to Coventry with a difficulty rating of just 2. He is also our captaincy pick for the week (more on that below). This is a must-own. Get him in before his price rises further.

Verdict: ESSENTIAL

Brighton's left back was brilliant in Gameweek 1, registering a goal and an assist in a 4-0 demolition of Aston Villa. He finished with 17 total points from that single appearance and already has a clean sheet, a goal, and an assist to his name this season.

At £4.6m, this is an absolute budget gem. The secret is getting out - 50,000 managers have already moved for him this week. Another home fixture with a difficulty rating of 2 in GW3 means the upside remains very real. A must-buy at this price.

Verdict: GOOD BUY

Brentford's defender scored and kept a clean sheet in Gameweek 1 against Spurs in a commanding 3-0 home win, picking up 13 total points. Brentford's defensive structure looks solid and they bullied Spurs at home already.

Another home fixture in GW3 and another budget option at £4.6m. If you need defensive cover on a tight budget, Kayode is a brilliant option. His price has already risen once - don't sleep on him.

Verdict: SELL

Two total points from Gameweek 1. Zero goals. Zero assists. Man United lost to Hull City in GW1, face Ipswich in GW2, and then a tricky Everton fixture in GW3. At £12m, that is dead money. Sixty-two thousand managers are already shipping him out this week.

We recommended selling last time and nothing has changed. Free up the funds immediately and redirect that £12m into assets that are actually delivering.

Verdict: SELL

Same United problem. Two points all season, zero attacking returns, and 86,000 transfers out this gameweek - the highest of any player in the dataset. Mbeumo looked electric last season but this is a nightmare start and with Everton at home in GW3, it is not getting easier.

Do not hold on hoping for a turnaround. Get him out and use the funds on players with better fixtures and form.

Verdict: Sell if you own Cherki | Hold if you want a cheaper City option

Semenyo has moved to Man City, which sounds exciting on paper, but with Cherki now the clear standout creative force in that City midfield, Semenyo looks overpriced at £8.5m. He picked up 5 points in GW2 but his form rating sits at just 3.5, and 50,000 managers are already moving him on.

If you have Cherki already, there is little point holding Semenyo at £8.5m when Cherki is doing more at £7.6m. If you want a City representative but cannot afford Cherki, he is a passable hold - but he is not the priority.

Hull shocked Man United 2-0 in Gameweek 1 and Mendy scored while keeping a clean sheet. At just £4m - the cheapest possible price point in FPL - he offers remarkable differential value. If you need a fourth defender on a shoestring budget, Mendy is your man.

White had a clean sheet and an assist in GW1 as Arsenal beat Coventry 3-0. The Chelsea away fixture in GW3 is tough, but Arsenal's defensive structure has been excellent. At £5.5m and under 7% ownership, White is a sneaky differential with real upside - especially with the Villa vs Arsenal GW2 game still to come.

Virtually nobody owns him and yet Ajayi scored and kept a clean sheet in GW1, racking up 14 total points. Paired with Mendy, Hull's defensive unit is clearly set up to grind results. If you want maximum differential value at the back, Ajayi alongside Mendy for just £8m total is hard to argue with.

No debate needed. Cherki is the captain for Gameweek 3.
